Literature Text

Swiftly falling
head-first into a pit full of vipers;
vipers that steal my soul,
and tear at my flesh.
Blood flows in thick rivulets
washing away my need
for individuality.
Drained, weak,
I cannot stop them
from conforming me
into whatever they desire.
I writhe slowly;
inevitably changing,
until I, too, am a viper,
stealing souls,
destroying minds,
and shaping others
in my poisonous image.

Since I finally got up the nerve to make a writing account, I decided it would have a better home here.

I don't remember exactly where this poem came from - but it was probably written during my "teen angst" period. Regardless, I still like what it has to say about humans and human nature.
